Cats & Parasites - Feline parasitic infections can be either internal or external; and are a general problem with all animals. Cats are no exception, no matter how clean they are kept.

Cats can pick up parasites very easily from other cats, other animals, or just by walking through long grass. The effects of an unwanted parasite infection can be very debilitating, and cat owners should keep a close watch on the cat for any changes in behaviour which may indicate such an infection. The measures that can be taken in the event of an infestation are considered in this section.

This section of our website describes some of the more common parasitic infections that can affect cats including cat fleas, other fleas, ear mites, mange, ticks, tapeworm, ringworm, roundworm, toxoplasmosis and walking dandruff.
