Movement & Agility Problems in Dogs - Movement in animals is made possible by the use of the bone and muscular system, the musculoskeletal system. This system is supported by a system of cartilage, tendons, and ligaments.

Dogs have an excellent musculoskeletal system that allows them great flexibility and the ability to jump and land without injury allowing them to be excellent hunters. However changes to this system caused by accidents or diseases can drastically reduce a dogs ability to move properly. This section describes the some of the more common problems that can affect a dogs musculoskeletal system including arthritis, degenerative disc disease, hip dysplasia, bone fractures, lameness, paralysis, spondylosis and vertebral instability.
